Teams who have a lot of time entries from different types of resources use Time Codes to track the kind of time spent.
The admin section for Time Codes adds and edits Time Codes to the list.

Required Descriptions can also be specified by Time Codes by adding those columns to the view above. See How to Make Descriptions Required for Time Entry for more.
Project Time Codes will appear as options as you enter time on a task or project level - under the column "Project Entry?"
Task Time Codes are clarified under the column "Task Entry?" You can specify that by marking them as No on "Company Entry?" and "Project Entry?" but Yes under "Task Entry?"
Non-Project Time Codes will only appear as options as you enter time on the company level, like Administration and Vacation/PTO in the screenshots under "Company Entry?"
