Creating an API token allows user admins to take their data and manipulate it outside of PI. This could be for presenting project reports in Power BI, sending project data to executives or many other uses. The most valuable use of an API token is that it provides live data in the form you present it, refresh the link to PI and all of the edits or entries made in PI will udpate through the token with current data.
Generate the REST Api token
- You must be an administrator to create the token from the API (REST) option in the Integration section of Administration in the left navigation.
- Note the REST API base URL on the following page as we will refer to it later.
