Project managers may designate allotted time to each resource on a project. Allotments compare assigned resources to their total allotted time on projects in addition to their total time available based on their working schedule.
If a resource works 40 hours per week, but few of those hours are spent on managed projects, it is better to compare the resource's total allotted time to the specific projects than to the resource's total available time.
Resource allotments are managed in either weeks or months (Allotment Scale). Unlike resource allocation, there is no daily allotment reporting. Comparison of assigned project work to allotted work must therefore report at either the chosen weekly or monthly scale.
Note: Monthly and weekly allotments are not designed to convert automatically. Your team should determine in advance which scale will be used for the project and that scale should not be changed later unless you wish to clear the values from one scale and re-enter them in the other.
